Company Shops Station Historic Renovation and Adaptive Reuse

Completion: 2002

The 1870’s Engine House [only surviving structure of the Company Shops Maintenance Complex] has been restored to accommodate the new Company Shops Station.  The upper level of this facility provides 5600 sf of
administrative space for the City of Burlington Police Department.  The lower level accommodates Burlington’s Amtrak Station, an exhibition lobby, a multi-purpose room for NCRR, and a training/conference room venue.

The Company Shops Station won the Award of Merit for Best Adaptive Re-use of a Building from the Main Street Program, administered by the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
